Ixworth & Ixworth Thorpe Parish Council has nine members, eight from the Ward of Ixworth and one from the Ward of Ixworth Thorpe.

A Parish Council is the first tier of government and usually the first point of contact for someone concerned with an issue in the local community.

They are democratically elected and there are over 10,000 in England and Wales. The term "Parish Council" is synonymous with "Town Council" or Community Council".
